SIR JOSEPH WARD.
Melbourne, April 9. A table received by tho Federal Government to-day, says Sir J. G. Ward, aboard the steamer en route to Australia, was advised by wireless from Cocos Island of the proposed cession of Tahiti to Germany. ,
Sir .1. G. AVard sent hack to London a protest on behalf of New Zealand and the other Governments. Sir J. G. AVard’s action caused some amusement in Federal circle::;. Apparently he was unaware that the rumour had been officially denied.
