LICENSING OF LAND AGENTS.

LEGISLATION URGED. The secretary' of the Stratford Chamber of Commerce has received a copy of the following resolution passed at the quarterly meeting of the Gisborne Chamber:—“'that it is desirable in the ioteiests of the general public as well as of the land agents of the Dominion that legislation should be introduced to register and license land agents on the lines of the Sharebroker Act, 1903, with the object of (a) protecting the public from misappropriation of trust moneys hold by agents from time to time; (b) regulating commissions throughout the Dominion; (c) prevention of those other than registered agents receiving commission on sales of property. The Gisborne Chamber asks the Stratford Chamber to pass a similar resolution and bring under the novice of the Pailiamentaiy representative of the district with a view to having an Act placed on the Statute book during the present session.
