ATTACKED BY PUMAS.
During a storm two of tne performing animals at Bostock’s “jungle’ ’at tiie White City, London, which had become infuriated by the roar of the .thunder, attacked the trainer, Mine. Morelli. 1 Aime. Morelli was putting some libns and pumas, who were in a cage in the “Canada” pavilion, through .their act, when suddenly there was a heavy crash of thunder. One ol tue pumas, seated on a high pedestal, was so' frightened that it immediately sprang at Mine. Morelli and fastened its fangs in her right arm, Anile another puma seized her by the log. With her disengaged hand she slashed tho animals across the head with a heavy lash she uses during the performance, and made them loose their hold. M. Bostock immediately rushed bound to the back of the cage, and, entering it with several trainers, armed with picks, crowbars, and revolvers, cowed and drove off the infuriated animals, and rescued Mine. Morelli amid much excitement. The puma i which first attacked her was regarded as one of the most docile in the collection.
