HOSPITAL BOARD.

, / MONTHLY MEETING. The ■following reports wore presentee at the meeting of the Hospital Board this morning: The Medical Superintendent (Dr. Steven) reported: At the beginning of July there were thirteen patients in the hospital. During the month fourteen were admitted, fifteen were discharged, and three died, so that nine remain. Seven operations were performed under anaesthetics. During the second week of the month there were so many patients (seventeen) that it was necessary for two convalescents to sleep in the corridor at the‘entrance to the men’s ward. The Matron (Miss O’Brien) reported : Everything in the building seems satisfactory. The, Sanitary .Inspector (Mr A. Gray) reported: Two-pound loaves were purchased from four bakers in Stratford and weighed. Two were found;to be the correct weight, but the'other two were an ounce and a hqlf short, weight. I had the weights checked by Sergeant Cullen, Inspector of-‘Weights and Measures, who found the weights ns mentioned. I havo reported the matter to the District Health Officer. Mr G. A. Officer reported; I have ■>ver,y little to , report this month. Everything is in a forward state and 'readf "for spring work. I will have /unshed cutting the Hedges in another dav, when I intend stopping for my holidays. I have got 'my garden seeds, and, weather permitting, when I resume ray work I will get my first sowing done. The Visiting Committee reported:— We have to report that the grounds and gardens are in good order, and reflect credit on the gardener. The guttering at some parts of the building has been overflowing. The wardsman will probably be able to attend to this; but if a plumber is required the business should be done soon.

There is now not enough feed for the lambs, and they should be;taken away. A heavy VolleT has baan' borrowed for the tennis lawn, and should be the means of improving the lawn.
