The others had a miraculous escape. FATAL ACCIDENT. Melbourne, July 29. Mr John Fisher, jnn., a well-known manufacturer, was killed while driving a motor without lights. Ho crashed into a spring cart. The driver of the cart and a passenger in the motor were slightly injured. PLAIN SPEAKING. Brisbane, July 29. Addressing a meeting of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Society, the Governor (Sir William McGregor) declared that Europeans practised political cruelty ; in making a large area in Africa subject to themselves. The groat nations were procecdfhg to put into force another political cruelty in respect to the unfortunate inhabitants of Morocco. A PICTURE ASSOCIATION. (Received 29, 9 a.m.) Sydney, July 29. A Picture Theatre Association is being formed, with a capital of two millions sterling, to operate in Canada, United States, England, Australia, and South Africa. The Australian section of the capital has already been promised. It will be the greatest association of its kind in the •world.
