SOCIAL AT TOKO.

The social and dance got up by the Joroifation Hall Committee, Toko, as a compliment to the members and assistants of tno Bazaar Committee, took place in tne New Hall on Thursday night, and proved a liuge success, fiver seventy couples were present, and the cm tain was not rung aown till close on to 4 a.m., a good number seeing out the last dance. Musical items were given by Miss M. Were (Hatv era), who rendered two songs in a very pleasing style. That song gem, ‘‘Tiignt of Ages,” which she sung first, was undoubtedly a treat, being much appreciated by one and all present. Jiossrs. N. Day and 11. Kennedy also sang several songs, which were well received. Mr. Frank O’Connor obliged the company with two of lus best recitations, which were also much appreciated. Miss McDonald had charge of the piano, and got through a "very lengthy programme niost satisfactorily. Mrs. McPhail, piano, and Mr. McPhail, violin, deserve a word of praise for contributing the music for the extra dances. Messrs, W. Pearce and Geo. Morrison, as M.C.’s, could not do enough, and were always on tlie alert to keep the fioor full and the dancers moving. Supper was laid in the supper room, the tables being nicely arranged, and weTe kept well stocked with eatables. This department was conducted entirely hy the members of the Kali Coihmittee, who all proved themselves adepts as waiters, and even to washing-up the cups and saucers. The up-to-date and cosy building, and the ciforts of the promoters of the social, to make everyone feel at homo, were much appreciated. As a further compliment to tlie ladies the surplus from the social will be also handed over to the bazaar.

A corroot balance-sheet of the bazaar cannot be made up until all the accounts come in, but there is every indication of there being, a surplus of Cl9o, which, of course} far exceeded the expectations of even the. most optimistic. When all tlip returns, mcludirm the Coronation subsidy, are totalled up the building will bo practical! v paid for.
