o AN ILLUMINATED ADDRESS. Following is the text of an illuminated address to he presented next week to Mr. Joseph McCluggage, by Whangamomona residents:— To Joseph McChiggage, Esq., J.P. We, the undersigned, settlers and residents of the Whangamomona district, desire to place on record our high appreciation of your sterling qualities as a settler, merchant, and representative of your fellow-settlers on the Land Board the Harbour Board and as Chairman of the Settlors’ Association. Since your arrival in the district some fifteen years ago you have consistently advocated the claims of the district before the general and local Governments, and by your energy and ability have successfully carried out many important reforms and initiated several beneficial measures for the well-being of the residents. We trust that though you have severed your business connections, you will continue to employ your influence for the advancement of the district; and wo hope that your future career will bo fraught with success, and be uniformly prosperous and happy. 1 Thou follow the signatures of Mr. W. A. McCutchan and twenty other local residents. The address has been illuminated and framed by Mr. J. McAllister. It is in a highly ornamental frame with oak pauneUing. On tlie top of the address is a picture of Whangamnmena settlement, the sides being occupied with pictures of the Whangamomona saddle, Taugarakau Gorge, and Mount Figment.
