MINISTER AND ACTINGMAYOR.
COUNCIL’S RESENTMENT. (Per Press xtssociation.) Wellington, July 27. The City Council to-night resolved that the' members of this council consider the action of the Minister of Public Works iu refusing to allow the Acting-Mayor of Wellington (as chairman of a deputation of -delegates representing various centres of New Zealand) to speak on the proposed tramway regulations, and his threat as Minister of the Crown to eject him from the room was an unwarrantable and unjustifiable insult to the deputation and also to the citizens of ’Wellington ; that the council begs to assure the acting-Mayor that the insolence of the Minister lias not in any way shaken the confidence of the council or of the citizens of Wellington in his honour, integrity, and capacity as acting-Mayor, and that a reply of this resolution be sent to the Acting-Prime Minister. The revenue returns for the Juno quarter show ; Receipts—Balance brought forward, £586,483; ordinary revenue,£2,154,323 jterritorial revenue £84,272; other items, £2101; total, £2,827,170. Expenditure: Permanent appropriations, £1,167,772: annual appropriations, £1,158,872; debentures renewed, £2000; net balance, £498,535; total, £2,827,180.
