(Per Press Association.) Dunedin, July 23. At the inquest on J. R. Walker, killed at Freeman’s coal mine on Friday night, the jury returned' a verdict that death was accidentally caused by a fall of coal from the roof of the mine in which the deceased was working. The jury added a rider expressing the opinion that it would add to the safety of minors if two men were coupled when pillars were being extracted. Gisborne, July 24. A man named Douglas, a newcomer to the district ,is supposed to have been drowned at Takapau. Search parties are out. Hastings, July 24. A man named Chas. William Timins, aged 20, single, a bricklayer, a resident of Tomoana, was killed by a train from Napier kite on Saturday night.
