STANLEY ROAD SCHOOL.
ANNUAL CONCERT. (From our own Correspondent.) The annual school concert in aid of the school funds was hold on the 14th inst. at the' Stanley Road school, and passed off most successfully. The night was lino and there was a large attendance. The programme commenced by an ' overture by Mrs Richmond, which was well received. The school children then gave several songs and recitations, which showed they had been carefully trained and were a great credit to their teachers. Misses Saywell, Knox and Savage each received an encore for their singing, which was very good. Miss Jessie Smith gave a recitation which was short and sweet, being entitled “Castor Oil.” Miss Brookes and Mr. Brownhill each played a pianoforte solo, both being much enjoyed by the audience. Miss Nielson gave a song which was well received and Mr Mischcwski gav*c a song for which he received an encore. After this refreshments were handed round, and the committee leave to thank the many ladies who so generously contributed the provisions and worked so hard to make the evening a success. Mr Guppy kindly boiled the coppers and helped in his usual cheerful way to make everything go off well. The school was then cleared and dancing commenced, bliss McDonald supplying the music in first-class style. The funds of flic committee have been considerably increased as the result of the concert and dance.
