The Borough Council to-night .1 - cided to take steps to raise a loan of £15,000 for the purpose of making a settling tank in connection with the water supply. Dunedin, July 21 A meeting of persons interested in the formation of a sanitary association was held this evening. Mr J. H. Walker, cx-Mayor, who presided, <-aid an association of the 'and would be productive of a largo amount of benefit to people by inducing thorn to become interested in sanitary matters that were of great importance t) the community at large. It was resolved that an association be formed, to ho called the “New Zealand Sanitary Association, Otago branch.” ft is intended to ask other centres t > join the association. Arnold, M.P., addressed a meeting of his constituents in the Early Settlors’ Hall to-night, the Mayor of Dunedin, Mr Rr.rnett, presiding. Mr Arnold referred at length to a largo number of political matters, and was questioned for half an hour upon various subjects. A motion of thanks and confidence was carried without dissent.
