THE PARLIAMENT BILL.
LORD MORLEY APPREHENSIVE. London, July IS. Owing to some fifty Opposition peers privately declaring their determination to vote against, the third reading of the Parliament Bill, Lord Morley is apprehensive lost it will be defeated by a minority of Unionists through the abstentions on their side. Lord Lansdowne is anxious to pass the Bill as amended. Lord Morley is anxious to pass the Bill to enable the House of Commons to reject the amendments. (Received 19, 9.20 a.m.) t London, July 18. Lbrcl Motley’s anxiety was due to the fact that the rejection of the Veto Bill would lead to the prorogation of Parliament and the repassing of the Bill in a new session, and the destruction of the Budget and Insurance Bill. The issuing of the whip also implies a .rebuke for the slackness of the Liberal peers in absenting themselves from a recent division.
