n (For Press Association.) Auckland, July 15. Disappointment is expressed amongst the large number of natives gathered at Waahi (Mahuta’s settler ment) at the non-appearance of Sir James Carroll, Acting-Prime Minister, who, it was hoped, would meet the natives on Saturday and discuss local matters with them. It is now stated that he will bo present on Wednesday. Visitors are present from as far south as Taranaki, Wanganui and Rangitikci. A large quantity of provisions, etc., have been procured to feed the visitors. Some 10 tons of potatoes, 12 tons of kumeras, 5 tons pipis, 1 ton mussels, 8 sacks eel, 6 bullocks, 8 pigs, fish, sugar, biscuits, etc., :n huge quantities, and from 200 to 250 loaves of bread is the daily consumption.
