(Received 17, 8.45 a.m.) Berlin, July 36. ~An inspired statement in “Kolnis- 1 ' chi Zeitung” to the effect that Germany will possibly accept compensate m outside Morocco has ta'sed vehement pan-German protests. A SERIOUS CHARGE. AN ATTORNEY-GENERAL IN DISGRACE. (Received 17, 8.5 a m.) Washington, July 1(3. Mr James Wickersham, C'ongiess delegate for Alaska, laid a charge before the House Judiciary Committee against Mr G. Wickersham, At-torney-General, of deliberately permitting the statute of limitations to elapse against an Alaska syndicate’s agents, who defrauded the Government through perjury. The amount involved being £IO,OOO. The Committee ordered an inquiry, the AttorneyGeneral to pioduce all documentary evidence in his possess on 'ibo alleged fraud is in connection with coal contracts, the Attorney-General, ,who received evidence, failing to act thereon until the expiry of the statnary time. The syndicate is said to comprise prominent English and American financiers.
