The funeral of the three and a-half Vear old daughter of 'Mr Walter »M*own wilt leave the parents’ residence, Ariel Street, to-morrow at 2.30 p.m. About 3000 Maoris are at present assembled at Waahi, just opposite Huntly, Auckland, for the purpose of meeting Sir James Carroll to discuss matters connected with the settlement of the land of the Waikato. Grievances are to be ventilated. A movement has been inaugurated at Christchurch, under the title of “The .National Peace and Anti-Mili-tarist Council of New Zealand,” to organise those who are protesting against the compulsory clauses of the Defence Act to take united action in an effort to have the clauses repealed*
