BRITISH SHIP-BUILDING.

A RECORD YEAR. * London, July 11. Excluding warships, 196 vessels, aggregating 1,-176,394 tons, are in course of construction in Britain. This is 6200 tons above the previous record, in September, 1901. Germany is constructing vessels aggregating 255,906 tons, and France 126,186 tons, the United States 97,803 tons, Holland 78,425 tons, Austria 51,750 tons, Japan 34,239 tons, Italy 19,991 tons. Fifty-nine British and five foreign wafships are being built, in British yards.
