COAL VEND CASE.
Sydney, duly 12. Mr Knox, counsel for the colliery proprietors, again monopolised the whole day in the vend case. He quoted prices charged to customers in Australia and other parts of the world. Where the prices were most affected by the vend, they wore approximately equal. Therefore the prices could not be called excessive. A rise of from ton to eleven shillings a ton was not to the detriment ol the public. This was proved by the tire fact that trade had increased in greater proportion than before. No witness had stated that trade was hampered bv the prices charged.
