(Per Press Asso.na.tion ) Levin, July 10. The Manawatu Rugby representatives defeated Horowhcnua at Levin on Saturday hy 8 points to 3. Phenomenally heavy rain foil last night, the total for 24 hours being well over 2iu. The low-lying portions of the town are flooded wiui surface water. A partial amalgamation between the Manawatu and Horowhcnua Rugby Unions has been completed for the purposes of representative games against the stronger unions. Auckland, Taranaki, and Wellington are specified as the North Island teams against which the amalgamated fifteen will bo pitted; also against such South Island teams as may be agreed upon. A joint committee drawn from both unions lias been established to conduct ail affairs of the amalgamated team.
