THE TERRA NOVA.

A SURVEYING CRUISE. (Per Press Association ) Christchurch July TO. The British Antarctic expedition ship Terra Nova left Lyttelton this morning on her surveying cruise between Cape Maria Van Diem an and the Three Kings. The vessel left the wharf at 8.30 a.m., and notwithstanding the early hour of departure, there was a crowd jof nearly 200 people mi the wharf to see her off. Assisted by the tug Canterbury, which gave her bow a pull round, the Terra Nova left file wharf without any ceremony, and under her own steam passed out of the breakwater ton minutes later. She cleared the Heads shortly before 10 o’clock, and at noon was several miles off the shore, setting sail before a fresh south-east wind.
