LEVIN NEWS.

(Per Press Association ) Levin, July 5. Phenomenal rainfall was experienced at Levin about 1 a.m. to-day. Evidently a waterspout burst over the town. Blocks of land aggregating 3000 acres, situated seven or eight miles east of Levin, were inspected yesterday by Mr. Ritchie, Land Purchase Commissioner, It is understood he will report favourably regarding the suitableness of the land for special settlements. A young man named John Niccol, a passer-by, died near Levin yesterday. At the inquest a verdict of death from pneumonia, supervening on constitutional weakness, was returned.
