BAND MATTERS.
REORGANISATION ASKED FOR. Cr. Lawson ross at the special mooting of the Borough Council last night and brought up the matter of the band. - He said several people had spoken to him about the band," asking that something should be done in the direction of reorganising it. He thought the Council- should take steps to get possession of the instruments. They word hero, there, and everywhere—in fact, it was hard to say just exactly where they a cre. Before, any Scheme of reorganisation could be thought of it would be necessary to call in the uniforms and instruments. He believed there was a capable band conductor at present working in Stratford whoso services could probably be secured. He understood 'the present Town Band had got the sack from their theatre job, and the moment seemed opportune for the Council to call in the instruments and reform Iho Mayor stated that when he found he could not secure a. few play, ers to play on Coronation Day ho had at once instructed the Town Clerk to call in the instruments recently issued.
Cr. Paget said the whole trouble occurred through" the loose Way in which the instruments "were issued. On the last occasion when instruments wore issued ho had tried t 6 get some binding form of receipt, hut had been unable to do so. On the motion of Cr. Lawson, seconded liy. Dr. Paget, ft was decided to call in all uniforms 'find instruments the property of the Borough.
