OBITUARY.

Melbourne, July 3. Colonel Tom Price, who commanded the Victorian Mounted Rifles in the Boer War, and was afterwards Commandant of the Victorian Forces until his retirement hi 1904, has died. He was the son of John Price, supposed to he tho original Maurice Ffc.ro, in Marcus Clarke’s “For the Term of His Natural Life.” Ultimately ho was murdered by convicts, ten being executed for tho crime. Colonel Price was notorious over his alleged order tc the troops during the maritime strike to “Fire low and lay ’em out!”
