TIMARU HARBOUR BOARD.
(Per Press Association.) Timaru, Juno 30. The Harbour Board offered £6OO per acre for ten and a hdlf acres of land reclaimed by the harbour works and required for railway .yard yards purposes, This was accepted, subject to certain conditions of access to the foreshore from existing streets. The Board’s quarrymen applied for an increase of wages from 8s to 9s per day. On- the recommendation of the engineer the Board : increased the wages for labourers from 8s to 8s 6d por day, and quarrymen to 9s. The fishermen of Timaru, who now use a score or so of motor boats, applied to the Harbour Board for a special wharf for landing fish. The engineer recommended one to cost, with a crane and trolly-rails, £4BO. The Board’s postponed its decision to inquire whether the Railway Department will grant a siding for a fish truck' to the proposed wharf.
