Tho Lord Mayor nas received the approval of tho Works Committee of extensive alterations and resumptions with a view to widening tnoroughfures, abolishing slums, and remedying awkward corners. Since the Board was creat- < d 502 hotels have been closed, the compensation amounting to £l94 J 989.
