Tho Lord Mayor nas received the approval of tho Works Committee of extensive alterations and resumptions with a view to widening tnoroughfures, abolishing slums, and remedying awkward corners. Large sums of money arc involved. Melbourne, June 28. Tho License Reduction Board is closing seven fmther hotels in Melbourne. Since the Board was creat- < d 502 hotels have been closed, the compensation amounting to £l94 J 989.
