Mr Allen spoke very largely oil the lines of his previous addresses in criticism of tho Government, and tho explanation of tlic Opposition platform.' 1 Ho was accorded a good hearing, and a hearty vote of thanks. The completed rc” turns for Dunedin, Invercargill, Milton and Oamaru districts mow give a total of G 229 cadets and 4296 territpnals, or 10,525 in all. On Juno 2nd there wore 696 men over 21 years of ago who had continued serving in their respective companies. THE RACING COMMISSION. ' . Wellington, Juno 19. At an adjourned meeting in bankruptcy of tho Tiinaru Dairy Company (a partnership concern) tho auditors’ report stated that the loss of £3769 in 18 months, was caused by paying too much for buttcr-fat (an average of 10.8 d) in proportion to the sale prices (average 10.7 d) and the high expenses of management, and interest of 10 per cent on capital. At the Police Court Louis Leon Cohen, a traveller for jewellery, appeared on remand' on a charge of having stolen jewellery and stones’ to the value of £ls 7s (id. At a largo and enthusiastic mecting to-night addressed ’by Messrs Redmond and Donovan, Irish delegates, it was announced that a collection in the town and district totalled £250 ; as ’ compared with £77 on the occasion of the visit four years ago by the Homo Rulers. z ROUND THE WORLD PEDESTRIAN Wanganui, Juno 19. Joseph Frank Mikulee, an American of Croatian extraction, who is walking round the world, arrived in Wanganui to-day. Ho left New York on January IGth, 1911, and after visiting the capital of every State (to prove which ho has the seals of each city and letters from Roosevelt and Taft downwards), ho sailed from San Francisco to Newcastle. Thence he walked to Sydney, where ho joined the barqnentino Aloxa as a seaman. -The Alexa arrived this morning.
