It being quite a new thing for the Tututawa people keen interest was taken in the games, and the wins / were very popular—lst prize (lady) went to Mrs 11. Barron, silver-moun-ted cut-glass jewel-case; booby prize (lady), Mrs'F. W. Simpson (Jack-in-the-box),, - which caused great fun. First prize (gentleman), Mr J. O’Connor, aluminium pipe rack; booby (gentleman), Master Dick Oliver. At the close of the games the'tables were cleared away and dancing commenced, Mr J; B. Norris acting as M.C. The music j provided was voluntary’, and was all that could be desired, tnc players being Mr and Mrs Stanton, Mr.-Bredow, and Mr H..Gedge. At 12 o’clock supper, provided by the ladies, was handed round, and dancing iwas then carried on till 2 o’clock in the morning, all having had a good time. • Messrs Bayly and Perry have completed their " now residences, and brought in their respective families, which will prove a great acquisition to the district. Another new settlor has taken up his abode here, Mr Theobald, of Tarata, having bought Mr Bratle’s place. Work- is very plentiful for bush-fel-lers at present. Mr Perry, of Mationga Station, is getting down 1200 acres and Mr J. 8., Norris 150 acres, besides numerous other smaller contracts. I boar the bachelors of Tututawa are giving a ball on the, 7th July, and judging from the initial interest taken in it, it should prove a great success. Mr 0. Bayly has been appointed bon. sec., and will work hard to that end. Settlers are anxiously waiting' for the weather to take up to commence crutchihg.
