TWO MEN RUN DOWN. (Per Press Association.) Auckland, Juno 15. James Harrison and William Lynch wore standing talking on tlio tramlino at Wellesley Street, when a car coming down the hill ran into them both. They were removed to the hosoital. Harrison is suffering from a broken leg and severe internal injuries . Lynch is badly cut about, but in his case serious results arc not anticipated. KILLED IN A MINE. Hokitika, June 15. A miner named Charles Heil was killed in the Wheel of Fortune claim, Stafford, this afternoon. The fatality vas caused by the elevator bucket falling on him while he was working in a well-hole. Death was,, instantaneous. The deceased was a married •nan, his wife and two children residing at Stafford. WOMAN’S SUDDEN DEATH. Auckland, June 15. The body of the woman who died suddenly in a Kingland resident’s house has been identified as that of Elsie Alexander Holland, a single wonan 21 years of age, who had been lady’s help in a family at Epsom. The irmueft was adjourned. It is understood that tho police have information as to tiie movements of deceased, hut it is not expedient to disclose thorn, as further action is probable. (Per Press Association.) Well i ngton, June 15. Figures supplied by tho defence authorities show that there are still i number of males between the ages of 11 and 21 who have not registered under tho now defence scheme. For the week ended June 10, 2748 persons registered. The figures for each disti icfc were :—Auckland, territorials 596, senior cadets 110; Wellington. 254 and 209; Canterbury, 426 and 451; Otago, 170 and 129 ; totals, 144 G and 1802. Juno 17 is absolutely the last day for receiving registrations. Persons who should have registered by that day and fail to do so will ho prosecuted. Wellington, Juno 16. Up to June 10th the registrations under tho defence scheme were Auckland 16.930, Canterbury 13,138, Otago 11.819, Wellington 16,837; total, 55,774.
