THE CORONATION.

NEW SOUTH WALES ADDRESSES Sydney, June 11. Amidst enthusiastic cheers, both Houses adopted Coronation addresses to the King, expressing loyalty to the Empire. TRADESPEOPLE AND HOLIDAYS. (Per Press Association.) Dunedin, Juno 14. A considerable amount of feeling exists among the local tradespeople over the position in which they are placed in connection with the holidays next week, Coronation Day and tlie Prince of Wales’s Birthday following each other. Traders must observe a holiday on the Prince of Wales’s Birthday to conform to Arbitration Court awards. Briekmakars, linkers, and pastrycooks, cartels, tinsmiths, the butchers of tiie Christchurch Meat Co., hairdressers (the last-named from noon), and gas stokers may observe, a holiday on the 23rd or on the day of their annual picnics, while in some instances (except butcher's and hairdressers) employees may work on payment of extra rates. The Employers’ Association sent a telegram to tlie Hon. -3. A. Millar today, pointing out that the Labour Department had intimated its intention to prosecute all working under awards who failed to close on the 23rd, and expressing the fear that this attitude would mean non-observance of the Coronation. Tlie butchers unanimously decided to keep tlioir premises open on Coronation Day, owing to compulsion to close on the 23rd. It is understood that the Carters’ Association has decided to observe a holiday on Coronation Day instead of on the 23rd. HOLIDAY CELEBRATION. Dunedin, June 14. A copy of a telegram seat by the Employers’ Association to the Hon. J. A. Millar, with reference to the observance of the holiday next week, was laid before the City Council to-night, and, after discussion, it was decided to - telegraph to the Minister suggesting that the Coronation celebrations he. hold on tlie Prince of Wales’s Birthday.
