The distribution arrangements have been left to tho .various Education Boards, and it is intended to have the full supply available in good time before Coronation Day, so that / they may be handed to the children at public functions, if desired. There are 175,000 medals on order, sufficient for all the pupils of State primary schools, State institutions such as tho school for tho deaf, and children in private schools which are officially inspected. Wellington school children will bo enjoying their winter vacation during Coronation week. SHOOTING OF HOMING PIGEONS Members of Homing Pigeon Societies in this island have recently had to deplore the loss of valuable birds through the non-sportsman! ike action of persons who have recklessly shot them. Nothing more cruel can he imagined than the potting of these pigeons after they have llown long distances and are returning to their lofts. It may not he generally known that, this is an offence under existing legislation, and there is a penalty of £2O provided for a breach of the" Act. In addition, an offender is liable to pay tho owner the value of any pigeon or pigeons so destroyed. THE ZOO.
