Thompson was bon on October 27. ]S77-. and is therefore in his 'thirty-fourth year. In Hie season 11)03-4 he was one of ihe two profession ■> al cricketers included in Lord Hawke' team for the New Zealand tour, and cl a exceedingly well during the last visit o' the Australian eleven to England. H 1009 Thompson was selected for England, and performed well. Tie was also a member of the ALC.G. team to tour South Africa in 1900-10, and besides bowling well was second only to J. B. Hobbs in batting averages in the five test matches in first-class matches: During the last English season Thompson scored 1021 runs (including two centuries) for an average of 23.7-1, and took 129 wickets at an average of 17.Su
