Owing to the Easter holidays, business during the past week lias been quite upset. The market has been a very disappointing one, as it was generally expected that after the recent reduction there would have been a much better feeling, and more enquiry for best butters, but this has not. been the case, the market still being depressed and prices showing no improvement. Our telegraphic advices from Copenhagen yesterday indicated that the market there is dull, and the quotation to-day lias been declared unchanged. Danish and Swedish.—The total arrivals of Danish this week show a decrease of 2511 casks. Notwithstanding the falling off in arrivals, the market has been decidedly quiet, and stocks are by no means cleaned. Prices show a reduction on the week of Is to 2s per cwt., strictly choicest quality being noiv freely offered at 114 s to 115 s.

Siberian.—The arrivals continue to steadily increase, this week the total shipments being between 7000 and 8000 casks. The quality of the best goods is - showing up very well indeed, and these meet with a fairly brisk demand at prices ranging from 100 s to 104 s. Splendid value in medium goods can be obtained at from 94s up to 98s. Inferior quality still continues t> drag, and prices remain irregular—Bos up to 925.

Colonic! Butters. Australian.—The arrivals this -week arc somewhat heavier, comprising the Orsova with 25,661 boxes, the Medic with 8700 boxes, and the Palermo is now also duo with about 33,000 boxes bn board. The market after the holidays opened fairly strong, there being an excellent demand for choicest quality, which continues to move steadily into consumption. Secondary still continues to be very plentiful. We quote strictly choicest quality from 102 s to 103 s choice goods ,96s up to 100 s, secondaries from 88s up to 945. Saltless.—Although still scarce, is barely as firm as last week. Choicest quality cannot now be quoted at more than 108 s. New Zealand.—There is very little butter now left unsold ex the Athenic. Any small lots on offer may be quoted 108 sto 109 s. The Tongariro with about 25,000 boxes on board is due to dock end of this week. Cheese, Canadian. —The market continues firm. We quote choicest white 03s, choicest coloured 645. New Zealand.—The active demand for this article, mentioned in cur Just week’s report, continues. Prices are being firmly held.
