At the Supremo Court criminal sessions Judge Chapman, in his charge to the (Band Jury, referred to the largo number of cases, 25 hills being presented. He said that no doubt the larger proportion of criminal cases in Auckland compared with other centres was duo to the greater population: .He commented favourably on the absence of sexual cases. Frank Stokes, alias To/.er, for forgery and uttering, received twelve months’ imprisonment and three years’ reformatory treatment. Hape Tamara, alias King, for forgery and uttering, received two years’ imprisonment and was declared an habitual criminal.
