MURDER AND DOUBLE SUICIDE.

Sydney, May 20. A family consisting of a man and wife and son (aged S) wore found" dead in a residence in North Sydney. They were lying witli the backs close together, a bottle of poison being alongside. The police think the parents first murdered their child and then suicided. Their name is supposed to ho Hasten!, and are thought to bo recent arrivals from Now Zealand. The house was bare of furniture, and the people were in great financial difficulties. OUT OF WORK AND DESTITUTE. Sydney, May 21. Deceased, who was named Segar Stafford Basterd, a chemist, and his wife, Evelyn, with their son, came from 'Wellington or Auckland. He was out of work and absolutely destitute. He wrote to the police asking them to come and remove their bodies, as they were taking prussic acid.
