JAPANESE "DEATH” RAY

(Rec.-9 p.m.) TOKYO, October 6. General MacArthur’s research officers have disclosed that Japanese scientists tried unsuccessfully for five years to develop a death ray. The only progress was its capacity to kill a rabbit at 33 yards in 10 minutes. Experiments for stopping aeroplanes succeeded only against unshielded motors at short range. The Japanese death ray works on a short radio wave focussed in high power by a reflector. The effects against animals included haemorrhage of the lungs and the destruction of the brain cells.
