MESSAGE TO OLD COMRADES

Brigadier Burrows And

20 th Battalion

“Please give my regards to all my old Southland friends,” says Brigadier J. T. Burrows in a letter, in which he apologizes for being unable to accept an invitation to be present at the second annual reunion of former members of the 20th Battalion in Invercargill next Thursday. “I remember so well the day I first came into contact with B Company on the station at Burnham, when I met the train with the Southland draft on board. If some members don’t remember that day, I imagine they would remember the next one.” Brigadier Burrows was at one time in command of the battalion. Two other former members of the battalion who are unable to be present at the reunion are Captain C. H. Upham, V.C. and Bar, and Sergeant J. D. Hinton, V.C. They are to attend the State luncheon in honour of winners of’the Victoria Cross in the 1939-45 war, to be held in Wellington on the same day.
