MAY FAIR CONTINUED
Night Of Celebration
Noisy but quite orderly demonstrations took place in the city last evening, bands of youths and girls singing, shouting and laughing gaily as they roamed about the brightly illuminated streets. Other citizens, who preferred to celebrate more quietly, attended the church services or went to the theatres. There were big attendances at all the theatres, but not many stayed to celebrate in the city. The two main attractions for those who had come into the city to celebrate were the May Fair fun factory in the U.F.S. Hall and the merry-go-round and sideshows at tire corner of Esk and Kelvin streets. It was a successful night for the fun factory, a considerable profit being made. The hall was crowded during the earlier part of the night. A May Fair merry-go-round was operated in Tay street throughout the day. During the afternoon children’s fancy dress, pets’ and decorated bicycles and tricycle parades were held in Esk. street, The size of the crowd made it impossible to hold the children’s races as arranged, but these will be held on Friday. Another attraction for the children were the “mystery train rides” and many hundreds were carried during the afternoon.
