Missing Motor-Car A motor-car has been missing from Dee street since early yesterday morning. Any person knowing its whereabouts should communicate with the nearest police station. It is a fiveseater sedan, painted teal blue. A wireless aerial is attached to the roof of the car. The registered number is 149,064. Shops Closed Today Shops in Invercargill will observe a holiday today in accordance with the arrangements previously announced. A Press Association message received from Wellington on Tuesday stated that the New Zealand Employers Federation and tire New Zealand Retailers’ Federation were recommending shopkeepers to resume business today. This recommendation will not cause any change in the arrangements in Invercargill.

Gaming Laws The grand jury made the following presentment at the opening of tire Supreme Court sessions in Wellington: “In view of the large . number of offences against the gaming laws, this jury is of opinion that the time has arrived for a review of the relevant legislation.” A charge of bookmaking was among those which they had had to consider and a true bill had been returned. Mr Justice Blair, who was on the Bench, said the presentment would be conveyed to the proper authorities. Damaged Tea Cargo

Containers damaged en route are expected to result in the loss of some hundreds of pounds of tea from a cargo which arrived at Auckland this week. The cargo included nearly 80 tons of tea, packed in 17,900 1001 b wartime board cartons and light plywood chests. The tea was transhipped from overseas ships in Sydney in a damaged condition, and efforts were made there to repair the chests to prevent further loss on the voyage to New Zealand. The packages were stowed on the ship in Sydney with no dunnage between the tiers, and many were crushed on arrival in Auckland. Although the agents have not yet been able to compute the loss, Mr A. Sinclair, walking delegate of the Auckland Waterside Workers’ Union, estimated that it would be no less than half a ton.
