Fine and Cold (Special) WELLINGTON, May 7. Following is the special forecast for Southland issued by the Meteorological Office this evening for the period ending 5 p.m. tomorrow:— An anti-cyclone over the Tasman is moving on to the Dominion. Light and variable winds, northwcsterlies gradually predominating. The weather fine and cold. The weather in Invercargill yesterday was cool, with bright sunshine for the greater part of the day. There was very little wind. The weather at one o’clock this morning was cold, calm and clear. The barometer reading was 30.09 inches (rising). The Tides.—High water: Bluff, 11.14 a.m., 11.45 p.m.; Invercargill, 11.45 a.m., 12.26 p.m.; Riverton, 10.14 a.m, 10.45 p.m.; Oreti Beach, 10.23 a.m, 10.54 p.m. The Sun.—Rises, 7.53 a.m.; sets, 5.34 p.m.
RAINFALL. (From our observer at the airport, by courtesy of the Public Works Department).—No rain fell during, the 24 hours ended at 5 p.m. yesterday. '
