EDENDALE SCHOOL

Presentation Of Prizes The annual school concert and presentation of prizes of the Edendale school was held in the Town Hall, before a large and appreciative audience. Just before the conclusion of the entertainment the chairman of the school committee, Mr B. F. Hall, presented the dux medal to Ruth Pask, and sports cups to Joan Tither (most improved basketball player), Norman Ward (most improved football player) and Zilda Bell (athletics). Mr M. D. Turner, chairman of the Town Board, presented the Citizenship Cup (given annually by Mr D. F. Sandys Wunsch) to Maurice Hodges. Special prizes were also presented as follows: Needlework (Mrs McElhinney’s prizes): Jean Morton (senior) and June McStay (junior). Cooking (Mrs McElhinney’s prizes): Rosena Caldwell (Form II) and Margaret Macbeath (Form I). Woodwork: Colin Wilson (Form 11, Southland Stores prize) and Robin Ballantyne (Form I, Mrs T. Beck’s prize). The honours list was as follows:— Form ll.—Ruth Pask, dux of school, Rosena Caldwell 2, Thelma Findley 3. Form I.—Bruce Christianson 1, Michael Bayley 2, Margaret Macbeath 3.
