1 • I PROGRAMME MARRED t BY RAIN i Good entries were received for a sports meeting conducted by the Inver- s cargill Amateur Cycling Club at the c South Invercargill Domain on Saturday, c The programme, unfortunately, was * marred by a heavy fall of rain, but some r good performances were recorded in the I cycling events, although the track was * sticky. There was a good attendance of 3 the public. The Caledonian Pipe Band A was in attendance and a display was J given during the afternoon. ? A feature of the cycling events was 1 the success in the half-mile, one mile < and two mile races of J. Smith. He es- E tablished a good lead in all three races and managed to win fairly easily. * Keen interest was taken in the 100 j yards sprint race between two cyclists and two runners. The two cyclists took J first and second places, the second man j beating one of the runners by inches. I The time was 11 seconds.
