U.S. PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION
Win For Mr Roosevelt Predicted
(Rec. 11.30 p.m.)t NEW YORK, Nov. 5. Mr Roosevelt will be re-elected next Tuesday by a substantial margin of the electoral vote, according to The New York Times’ poll by 56 political reporters throughout the country. They predict that Mr Roosevelt will win 29 of the States, with a total electoral vote of 332, representing a majority of 6.6 votes in the. electoral college, Mr Thomas E. Dewey will win .19 States, with a total electoral vote of 199.
The reporters the winner to receive a very narrow margin of the popular vote. This will be reflected in the House of Representatives, where the .Republicans are expected to gain control through the election of 11 representatives, giving them 223 members, or a majority of five. The Senate will probably remain Democratic, although the Republicans may gain six to eight seats, leaving the Democrats 50 or 52 seats out of 96.
