SNEAK THIEF ACTIVE
ARTICLES STOLEN FROM HOUSES IN GLADSTONE
A sneak-thief has been active in Gladstone recently. He is believed to combine his activities with those of a Peeping Tom.
The only case reported to the police was one in which a girl’s handbag was taken from a windowledge of a house in Alice street while the owner was in the room. The bag contained a small sum of money and keepsakes of considerable intrinsic ■ value. Another resident of the district recently lost ovex- two dozen bottles of beer and about 18 lOoz bottles of lemonade. They were removed from a shelf in the wash-house, which had been left unlocked overnight.
The occupants of a house nearby lost money from a handbag while they were in anotlxer room listening to the radio and in yet another- case a woman lying in bed saw a hand entex- the open window and remove her bag, which contained £7 in notes.
