BRILLIANT FINISH IN PRINCIPAL RACE

(P.A.) OAMARU, October 23. The Oamaru Trotting Club’s Labour Day meeting was held in showery weather. The track was in first-class order. Nightbeam has been given a 51b penalty for his win on Saturday, increasing his Melbourne Cup weight to 7.11—91 b more than he carried in the Metropolitan. Saturday’s Caulfield Cup winner, Counsel, has been given a 61b penalty, making his weight 9.3.
