SOUTHLAND ANGLERS’ CLUB

Satisfactory Financial Position Comment on the satisfactory financial position of the club was made by the president (Mr G. Friend) at the annual meeting of the Southland Anglers’ Club last night. Mr Friend said that the club had finished the season with a credit balance of £45/10/-. This included £3O worth of war bonds. If the club could build its credit up to £lOO or more it could then consider buying a hut or two, Mr Friend said. A member pointed out that the club already had two huts at Benmore on the Oreti.

The following office-bearers were elected:—President, Mr G. Friend; vice-presidents, Messrs J. Aitken, T. Luzmoor and G. Stupples; honorary secretary, Mr H. L. Rowland; executive, Messrs G. Hoffman, L. Birss, G. Wishart, G. White, W. Martin, J. Ballantyne, A. Walker, D. Meffin, J. McAuliffe, A. Hume, J. Loudon, .H. McIvor, J. Brosnan, C. Butler, L. Butler, T. S. Martin, H. J. It was announced that Mr C. Butler had given an angler’s bag for the winner of the novice competition. This will be an annual gift. At the end of the annual meeting a social was held. A toast list was honoured and trophies won during the season were presented.
