TIMBER WORKERS’ UNION
OFFICERS NOMINATED
Nominations for the executive positions of the Southland branch of the New Zealand Timber Workers’ Union were received at the quarterly „meeting of the branch. As the number of nominations was equal to the number of positions to be filled, the members nominated will be declared elected at the annual meeting of the union to be held in December.
The following were the nominations: President, Mr C. Little (Waikawa); vice-presidents, Messrs M. Hughes (Lilburn), and W. Bromby (Invercargill); committee, Messrs W. Patterson (Progress Valley), K. Finlayson (Tuatapere), F. Barrett (Waikawa), G. Ogilvie (Tuatapere), L. Farquharson (Papatotara), T. Halpin (Clinton), J. Dwyer (Tuatapere), J. Harris (Lilburn), A. Durham (Lilburn) and W. Hunt (Longwood). It was stated that Mr Hughes, who is a leading bushman employed at Lindsay and Dixon’s sawmill, Lilburn, was at present in the Dee street hospital as a result of an accident in the course of his work. He was reported Jo be progressing satisfactorily.
