NAVAL AWARD FOR N.Z. ARTIFICER

(P.A.) WELLINGTON, August 4. The Minister of Defence (the Hon. F. Jones) has been advised by the High Commissioner for New Zealand in London (Mr W. J. Jordan) that Harry Bladin Pitt, electrical artificer, 4th class, was awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal for zeal and ■ devotion to duty over a long period. Artificer Pitt was born at Ruawai in 1921. He joined the naval service in 1940 and went overseas for service with the Royal Navy. His father is Mr A. G Pitt, Hastings. Artificer Pitt was a telephone mechanician before joining the Navy.
