THREAT TO RESIGN LEADERSHIP
Mr Greenwood And Labour Party LONDON, May 6. Mr Arthur Greenwood is threatening to resign the leadership of the Parliamentary Labour Party if disciplinary action is not taken against Mr Aneurin Bevan, M.P., says The Daily Mail’s political correspondent. Should Mr Greenwood, whose standing is high in the Labour Party, persist in his threat there is the prospect of a real party split. An earlier message stated that the third meeting of the Parliamentary Labour Party at which the question of the expulsion from the party of Mr Bevan was discussed, was adjourned without any decision being arrived at until next week.
A message received last week stated: The administrative committee of the Parliamentary Labour Party has informed Mr Bevan that he will be expelled from the Parliamentary Party at its meeting tomorrow for leading the revolt in the House of Commons last Friday against the Government’s new defence regulation regarding strikes.
