BLUFF NEWS

PERSONAL.—Mr S. J. Kelly, whb has recently returned from overseas and who has joined the staff of the Bluff school, has taken up residence in Bluff.

PLUNKET NURSE ENTERTAINED. —An enjoyable function was held in the Plunket rooms on Wednesday afternoon when the opportunity was taken to say farewell to Miss D. Tredrea, who for the past three and a-half years has been the visiting Plunket nurse to Bluff. Mrs J. Cameron, the president, in making a presentation, spoke of the splendid work done by the nurse and wished her success in her new position. Mrs R. Russel, on behalf of the mothers, also spoke and expressed the regret of all that the nurse was leaving. The secretary, Mrs H. A. Ferguson, referred to the manner in which the nurse had co-oper-ated with the committee and thanked her on their behalf. A welcome was extended to the new nurse, Miss Thomson, of Invercargill. PRESENTATIONS TO AIRMEN.— Before his departure Aircraftman Peter Metzger was met by the Mayor, Mr N. W. McGorlick, and presented with'a money belt on behalf of the citizens of Bluff. He also received a parcel from the women’s knitting circle. Aircraftman R. V. Duncan also received similar gifts during his recent visit to Bluff. PATRIOTIC FUND.— As a result of the recent two nights picture benefit the local patriotic funds will receive £l9. A further effort in aid of the patriotic funds was a street day, which realized £2O.
