FINAL FIGURES IN EIRE ELECTION
LONDON, June 2&. The final figures for the Eire elections are: Fianna Fail 67; Fine Gael 32; Labour 17; Farmers 9; Independent 13. The state of the parties before the election was Fianna Fail 77; Fine Gael 45; Labour 9; Independents 7. The Press Association’s correspond- . ent at Dublin says that, although Mr de Valera has lost a clear working majority over the comb'ned Opposition parties, the relations between Fianna, Fail and the smaller Opposition groups may easily enable Mr de Valera to come to some arrangement whereby his Government can ca* ry on for a considerable time. The Labour Deputies who are the most powerful of the smaller groups have been more sympathetically disposed towards Mr de Valera than to Mr Cosgrove and Mr de Valera had to rely on them in earlier administrations to preserve the Government’s s! ability. In a statement in Dublin on the result - of the election Mr de Valera said the Dail would be convened at the earliest possible opportunity to nominate a leader and that would determine the Government and policy to be pursued.
