REMAINS OF ROMAN LONDON
Chance Of Investigation (Rec. 10 p.m.) LONDON, Feb. 22. Archaeologists are anxious to secure Government authority to explore the Roman remains under London’s bombed areas before rebuilding begins. The Daily Telegraph quotes an archaeologist as saying: “The chance of increasing our knowledge of Roman London is lost forever if this opportunity is missed. One hundred acres of Roman London’s 330 acres lie under bombed buildmgs. A street, approximately in a line with Cheapside, was an important Roman thoroughfare. It may be possible to reconstruct a picture of the buildings and everyday life of Roman London.”
